Hey Kids...

If anyone woke up to a blank myspace profile due to the power outage/crash... don't despair!

If you were one of the ppl affected... don't redo everything, just change your default pic and it will refresh it and everything will be back to normal.

Hey Kids...

Anyone else annoyed by and confused by the whole Frappr thing? Back when it started it was a great asset to our websites and shows and we all got great pleasure out of seeing where our listeners were from. It was so easy to do.... Click on the link, sign your name and add a photo if you so chose.

Now, I feel like I need a PhD to figure this whole thing out. I constantly get emails from ppl wanting to "be a contact, add to friends list, etc.) I never know what to do with them... Not to mention that it's soo busy with all of the scroll bars and multiple sections... yikes! If I follow the url on there it brings up yet Another map..

I've gotten these emails mostly from ppl with their own maps (podcasters, musicians) and they end up on a separate map from my main site. Ppl who randomly come to the site and want to pin the map (mostly Pats fans who googled and found me) just get pinned on my regular map without any interaction and/or permission from me.

So... can someone explain this in simple terms to me... (Please be gentle.. this teacher's brain is turned off for the summer..hehehe!)

Have they not heard of the K.I.S.S method?

Thanks!
Mrs. B (sometimes bigger isn't always better...)

Hey Gary,

I'm trying to add my Frappr map to my profile but the text box to type the url cuts me off before I can finish typing in all of the characters.

Thanks!

Now that my Patriots season is over <sniff> it's time to start working on some technical aspects of the podcast. When I started in July, I literally learned how to do everything by searching on the web and wrote my first rss enclosure the day before putting out my first podcast. During camp I was producing 2 a day, then I've been going at it on a weekly basis all through the season...so I was in production mode and had no time nor desire to look into anything else, lest there be a screw up and I would have been stuck mid-season.

So, here are my questions... I've gotten some feedback from fellow NE Podcasters but I'd like some opinions from my Pickle Family as well..

Here's what I currently do: I upload the mp3 through Frontpage and house it on my webserver as part of my website. I write the feed using notebook and upload it at the same time too. (It doesn't take that much time because all I do is copy/paste the last item and make the changes in details. I use a page in my website for my shownotes but then also copy it to post on a blogspot blog page (yes, it's a duplicate) but then I have the benefits of the rss and also a place for people to post comments.

I like the way things are going, and I've got it down to a science at this point, however, the amount of space that all of those mp3 are taking up on my server is putting me 4 times over the limit that I'm allowed. (There are no bandwidth charges at all though). I'm expecting that I'll be getting a huge bill or, even worse, an order to pull some content. Regardless, something needs to be done since I'm going to have to pony up somewhere.

I know that many people use services like Libsyn, etc.. and Feedburner to "automate" their whole production. Since I do everything manually, I'm totally clueless about these things. Does anyone else go the manual route?

My questions are these:

What are the pros/cons?
Are there other services that people are using that they love?
What happens to my current feed that I have submitted all over town?
Will a place store my archived shows?
As for the archived shows, I'm up to show 45... how many should I keep in the feed anyway?
How painful is a transition??

Thanks.. I'd appreciate any opinions and/or suggestions since I'd like to make the best decision to take me into the future.

I have "met" so many great people here and I'm in awe of all of the talent. Keep on podcasting!!

Here's hoping that you all have a safe, healthy and prosperous New Year!
